Skirts
“Darzi” or clothiers have traditionally used local hand-looms, enchanting fabrics and designs and transformed them into skirts worn all around India. Over centuries, the styles of skirts have varied by region and occasion resulting in a dynamic evolution of a seemingly simple article of clothing. I have taken inspiration from these designs and infused them into modern, stylish skirts that can be worn on any occasion. I use cottons, rayon blends, chiffon, silks, and pashminas to make skirts that are trendy, comfortable and fashion forward. Block prints, tie and dye, hand embroidery , and screen prints make each line of skirts unique.
Banarasi: Skirts worn on special occasions and festivals were made with fabric woven with silk and gold threads. This hand loom style is very intricately woven with delicate designs and is well known as “Banarasi Silk”. My take on Banarasi skirts transforms this vibrant melange into something modern and playful, ready to wear for a night out in town.
Wraparound: Wraparound skirts are a newer trend in the evolution of skirts through time. Being the most elegant one-size-fits-all garment, these skirts can be worn as dresses as well. I have explored this versatility by using a variety of vibrant colors, designs and fabrics to create skirts that can be worn throughout the year!
Long Skirts: Elegant, flowing, bohemian and colorful are only some words that characterize these long skirts! Some are a mosaic of beautiful floral prints and others are solid colors with a trim that gives each skirt a unique personality.
Short Skirts: Fun, young and flirty describe my short skirts. There is a very wide range of fabric, designs, colors and fit to suit any occasion. Get one of each kind and make a statement this summer!
